How 3D Laser Engraving Works
Without damaging the surface, how do we create a 3D laser engraving in glass? Here’s the overall process:
Step 1: From Your High- Quality 2D Photo Upload
We need a high-quality photo to avoid errors during the crystal engraving process.
Step 2: 2D Converts to 3D
Our designers use specialized photo editing software to remove the background of your image and clean up any small imperfections. Then, we enhance image and build a digital 3D model from your photo.
2D vs. 3D engraving: The difference
- 2D engraving: Light points are created on a plane, resulting in a flat image inside the crystal.
- 3D engraving is more complicated than 2D engraving. With 3D engraving, you can see a vivid photo inside your crystal, because it is plotted at various depths to create an image that’s curved (convex toward you) in the front and concave (curved away from you) in the back. No matter what angle you view it from, your image will appear to move to meet your gaze. It's the magic different of 3D laser engraved crystals that your moments seem to be relived.
Step 3: Laser Production
Once the design is ready, we move on to the engraving process. Your crystal is meticulously cleaned and placed into one of our magic subsurface laser engraving machines. It's not magic, but it may seem like it is! Your moment is relived thanks to state-of-the-art laser technology. The light points are plotted to map out the coordinates for your 3D laser glass etching.
Step 4: Crystal Ready for Delivery
Before shipping your stunning gifts to its final destination, we give it a final check for quality, then pack it securely.
